David Crosby
Happy 79th David Crosby, American singer-songwriter and guitarist. David Crosby was a founding member of the Byrds.
With CS&N he had the 1969 UK No.17 single ‘Marrakesh Express’, 1970 US No.11 single with Crosby, Stills Nash & Young plus the 1970 US No.1 album ‘Deja Vu’ and the 1975 US No. 6 solo album ‘Wind On The Water’.
The trio’s first album, called Crosby, Stills & Nash, released in May 1969. The album was a considerable hit in the US, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard chart during a 107-week stay that spawned two Top 40 hits; ‘Suite: Judy Blue Eyes’ and ‘Marrakesh Express’.
Crosby co-wrote “Wooden Ships” (on their debut album) on his boat with both Stephen Stills and Jefferson Airplane’s Paul Kantner, the latter of whom they could not credit at the time for legal reasons. They wrote the political track as the Vietnam War was in full swing and is one of the most socially conscious songs in the Crosby, Stills, and Nash catalog.
In 1969 Crosby began abusing drugs because of the death of his long-time girlfriend, Christine Hinton, killed in a car accident in 1969.
The group reunited for a tremendously successful stadium tour in the summer of 1974. After the tour, the foursome attempted to record a new album, provisionally entitled Human Highway. Constant bickering marked the recording sessions, which took place at The Record Plant in Sausalito,. The bickering eventually became too much, and they canceled the album. CSNY did not perform together again as a foursome until Live Aid in Philadelphia in 1985.
In 1982, after being convicted of several drugs and weapons offenses, David Crosby spent nine months in a Texas state prison. It related the drug charges to possession of heroin and cocaine.
CSN&Y is the first band to have all its members inducted into the hall twice.

In the late nineties, David Crosby helped singer Melissa Etheridge and her then-partner Julie Cypher become parents through the process of artificial insemination. At the time of their birth, the identity of the donor was anonymous, but Etheridge later revealed that their friend Crosby had been the benefactor.
Recently Crosby, and long-time friend Steven Sponder, revealed they were pursuing to license his name to a leading national cannabis company. The “Mighty Croz” brand geared to cannabis connoisseurs.
The band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young known for their intricate vocal arrangements, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, political involvement, and everlasting effect on American music and culture were inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. CSN&Y is the first band to have all its members inducted into the hall twice. They released eight studio albums, five live albums, and twenty-two singles.
