About the Music
With influences from Midwest Emo and Math Rock bands like Origami Angel and Chon, Oranje coalesces into a unique high-energy blend of genres. After meeting at the University of Calgary as members of the Jazz Orchestra, guitarist Joseph Bahhadi, bassist Michael Buie, and drummer Andres Mira formed the band. With three singles on streaming services, their debut EP is set to release on June 16th titled “Pure Sport”. As described by Sled Island, it’s a collection of “tightly coiled start-stop tunes” that were recorded and produced by Chris Dadge (Alvvays, Chad VanGaalen, Childstone Studios).
