About the artist
Jack Devaney’s debut album “The Phantom Limb” is a fresh reimagining of the Indie Folk/Rock genre DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY – Jack Devaney’s debut album “The Phantom Limb” is the definition of a singular vision from a singular artist. Written and performed entirely in isolation, and recorded over Lockdown, “The Phantom Limb” sets itself apart from other, more introspective, post-Covid releases by taking its various influences – ranging from Fleet Foxes through The Beatles to Pixies and beyond – and opening them out into bold, exciting new places. Produced by Lorenz Naumann (Hedgehog Recorders, Subterfuge) and mastered by Robin Schmitt (Peter Fox of “Seeed”), “The Phantom Limb” mixes Jack’s unique combination of memorable hooks, driving riffs and delicate, ethereal soundscapes into an aural experience that leave the listener constantly wondering what the next song will bring.
A song for friends lost to years of “I’ll call them tomorrow”s. The Phantom Limb has been a passion project of mine for some time now. The initial work was began pre-pandemic with some other songs going back further than that (if you can believe it!). Filmed by the wonderful Svenja Krautwurst of Kommando Kreative https://kommandokreativ.com/ Mixed with the attentive ear of Lorenz Naumann https://lorenznaumann.de/ Mastered by …
On the 9th of March I went out to interview people in Düsseldorf, Germany with two simple questions in mind; “What does love mean to you?” and “How has it changed over time” I really enjoyed getting these opinions and view points. Unfortunately I had to make a lot of hard choices as to what made it into the video but I feel like everyone’s perspective is represented here. A big thanks to everyone who took part as well as Veronica Ward-Horner for joining me, doing camera work, being interviewed (a bit of everything). Huge love and appreciation to Lorenz Naumann for mixing the song: www.lorenznaumann.de … as well as Robin for mastering
