Quote Trivia

I don’t think I’ve ever actually written from inspiration, actually had a song just go, ‘Bing!’ I only recall that happening to me twice – once was with ‘Terrapin’ and the other was ‘Wharf Rat.’

I mean, that’s twice in a lifetime of writing!

Jerry Garcia

Jerry Garcia was born today, August 1, 1942. Garcia was ranked 13th in Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list.
He was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist for the Grateful Dead. During his career side projects included the Saunders–Garcia Band, the Jerry Garcia Band, Old and in the Way, the Garcia/Grisman acoustic duo, Legion of Mary, and the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Garcia died from a drug-related heart attack on 9 August 1995.
Renowned for his musical and technical ability, Garcia had the ability to play a variety of instruments and to sustain long improvisations. Garcia believed that improvisation took the stress away from his playing and allowed him to make spur of the moment decisions that he would not have made intentionally.
